By all accounts, Jameis Winston (QB, Fla St.) had an impressive showing at his Pro Day on Tuesday, all but solidifying his status as the likely No. 1 overall pick. Winston threw 102 passes in front of all 32 teams in a variety of drills, reportedly showcasing consistent accuracy, footwork and arm strength.
Winston has done everything right during the 2015 NFL Draft process, ranging from reconstructing his image to performing at a high level during the Scouting Combine and Pro Day. He has taken advantage of every media-related opportunity, the most persuasive of which was his one-on-one with Steve Mariucci.
I was skeptical of Jameis Winston at the start of the 2015 NFL Draft season. I was concerned about his off-field antics and wasn’t sold on his authenticity. That’s all changed for me. I’m confident that Winston has what it takes above the shoulders to not only command an NFL offense and locker room, but to also make the right decisions off the field as he matures as a man. It would shock me if the Buccaneers pass on him at this point.
