After being suspended for the first three games of the 2013 season, Carlos Hyde has gone on an absolute tear to lead the Ohio State Buckeyes in rushing with his 1,408 yards and 14 TDs in only 10 games. Hyde is no stranger to production, as he enjoyed a 970 yard, 16 TD season in 2012.
Hyde is averaging 7.7 yards per carry this season, which is a marked improvement over his 5.3 yard per carry average coming into the year.
In addition to his rushing production, Hyde has chipped in with 32 career receptions (three for TDs.).
While there will be a lot of debate about this bruising Buckeye and his off-field concerns, there’s no denying he is one of the most, if not the most, talented runners in the class.
Below is FRG Scouting’s breakdown of Carlos Hyde. Continue reading
Bishop Sankey, the record-setting running back from the University of Washington, enters the 2014 NFL Draft process as one of the most productive runners in this year’s class.
After a 2012 season that saw the junior runner total 289 carries for 1,439 yards and 16 TDs, Sankey topped those numbers this season with 306 carries, 1,775 yards and 18 TDs (breaking Corey Dillon’s single season rushing record). The Huskies’ featured back also pulled in 58 receptions over that two year span.
It’s expected that he will declare for this year’s NFL Draft, and there’s no doubt in FRG Scouting’s analysis that he will become an impact player in the NFL.
The following is FRG Scouting’s analysis of Bishop Sankey. Continue reading
De’Anthony Thomas will be a polarizing prospect as the 2014 NFL Draft season unfolds. Some will see him as a dynamic offensive weapon that lacks a true, natural position. Others will express confidence in his ability to be a running back in the NFL, and there will be a collection of analysts that view him strictly as a slot WR.
Thomas was the top athlete in the 2011 high school class (Rivals), and brought a sprinter’s speed to the Oregon Ducks’ backfield. He made an immediate impact as a freshman, earning the Pac-12 Co-Offensive Freshman of the Year award.
Thomas’s 2013 season has been impacted by a nagging ankle injury (causing him to miss several games) and his production has dipped as a result. That said, Thomas still has rare athletic traits that will trump the box score during the evaluation process.
The following is FRG Scouting’s evaluation of De’Anthony Thomas. Continue reading
Averaging 7.8 yards per carry for a season’s worth of work is very impressive. But doing it back-to-back years is bordering insane. And that’s exactly what RS Junior Lache Seastrunk has managed to do for the Baylor Bears in 2012 and 2013.
An Oregon transfer, Seastrunk was recognized by almost every major scouting outlet as one of the premier high school running backs in the Country. Since transferring to Baylor, he’s totaled 1,994 yards and 18 TDs during his two years as a starting running back with the afore-mentioned, mind-blowing 7.8 yards per carry (on 257 carries!).
Seastrunk was on pace to top his impressive 2012 season before a groin injury sidelined him. However, he appears to be healthy again and is likely to declare for the 2014 NFL Draft.
Below is FRG Scouting’s breakdown of Lache Seastrunk. Continue reading
Marion Grice, the all-purpose running back for the Arizona State Sun Devils, is finishing his 2013 senior season on crutches, but his body of work over the last two years has placed him in the race to be one of the first backs selected in next May’s NFL Draft.
The JUCO transfer has enjoyed a stellar season, totaling 996 yards rushing, 438 yards receiving, and 20 total TDs. He’s also displayed his ability in the return game on his 21 kickoff returns this year.
The following is FRG Scouting’s take on Marion Grice as we approach the 2013 NFL Draft. Continue reading
Andre Williams, the bruising and productive Heisman Trophy candidate runner for the Boston College Eagles exploded onto the national stage in 2013 with 2,103 yards rushing, 17 TDs, and a highlight reel that seems to go on forever.
Williams was a part-time runner prior to this season, as he totaled 349 career carries before getting 329 opportunities this year alone. And while he’s been a solid runner in years past, his senior season has really put his skills on display. Continue reading
